Basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in an interview with the Associated Press on Monday, revealed to all that he is suffering and being treated for a rare form of leukemia. He has known this for a year now but has just told the public now. It has been said that he is responding well to current treatments and has a fairly positive attitude and prognosis.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the NBA all-time leading scorer. He played 20 years in the NBA, from 1969 to 1989, and winning a stunning six MVP awards and six NBA Championships. He is regarded by many to be one of the greatest athletes of all time.
Kareem learned of the disease last year when he began having hot flashes and knew he had to go see his doctor. Jabbar has been very healthy throughout his life staying in shape, and even doing yoga for some time now.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has a positive outlook currently and is fighting his best. His issue being a public figure will help raise awareness about the disease. He was a great competitor on the court and in his life and should be alright.
